Apr 23: Aneena and Rosemarijn attend the 2026 Texas Bays and Estuaris Meeting. Aneena presents a poster entitled "Carbon and Sulfur Coupling on Alkalinity Dynamics in a Subtropical Estuary", and Rosemarijn presents a poster entitled "Winter Carbonate Chemistry of the Western Gulf of Mexico Shelf: Observations From R/V Pelican, December 2025".

Feb 22-27: Aneena and Eva attend the 2026 Ocean Sciences Meeting held in Galsgow, UK. Aneena presents a talk entitled "Carbon and Sulfur Coupling on Alkalinity Dynamics in a Subtropical Estuary", and Evan presents a poster entitled "Statistical Models for the Estimation of pH and Aragonite Saturation State in the Northwestern Gulf of Mexico". 

2025
Dec 17: Xinping coauthored paper "Quantifying the Flushing Time of Major Coastal Bays in the Northern Gulf of Mexico from 20-Year Simulations" is published in the journal Estuaries and Coasts.
Dec 15: Xinping presents a talk at the 2025 AGU Fall Meeting entitled "Enhanced estuarine respiration caused by coastal vegetation die-off after a winter storm".
Dec 12: The second leg of the TEX-ECE cruise is completed.
Dec 7: The first leg of the TEX-ECE cruise is completed.
Nov 30: Danish and Xinping embark on a voyage from Houma, Louisiana, to Port Aransas, Texas, as part of the Texas-ECE project studying estuarine–coastal exchange in South Texas. (Picture showing Danish securing reference CO2 gas line for our underway pCO2 system)

October 1: Dr Mohd Danish joins the Coastal Carbon Cycle Lab as a Research Associate.

Septeber 22: Through the collaboration with Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, our Spotter Buoy (Sofar) equipped with dissolved oxygen and temperature sensors (PME), nicknamed as "Kevin", is deployed at West Flower Garden Bank. Data from Kevin and his friend Bob, owned by the marine sanctuary and located at East Flower Garden Bank, are open to the public.
August 25: Ms. Kate Albertus joins the Coastal Carbon Cycle Lab as an MS student.

June 5: Ms. Angelina Edel joins the Coastal Carbon Cycle Lab as an undergraduate researcher.

June 2: Ms. Rosemarijn van der Lint joins the Coastal Carbon Cycle Lab as our lab manger.

May 2: With mixed emotions, we bid farewell to Dr. Hang Yin as he begins the next chapter of his professional journey as an assistant professor at the University of Macau.

February 11: Former lab member Dr. Larissa Dias' study "Spatial and seasonal variability of CO2 flux and carbonate chemistry in a subtropical estuary" is accepted for publication in Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science.
January 29: Xinping joins Marissa Nutall at Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary for a Marine Technology Society member webinar entitled "How UT Uses the Spotter Platform to Accelerate Hypoxia Research & Protect Coral Reefs in the Gulf". (Recording)
January 1: Our chapter "Physical and Biogeochemical Conditions and Trends in Texas Estuaries" is published in a new book "Freshwater Inflows to Texas Bays and Estuaries - A Regional-Scale Review, Synthesis, and Recommendations" edited by Paul Montagna and Audrey Douglas.

October 23: Xinping presents "Long-term vs. short term ocean acidification studies in estuaries
August 16: Coastal Carbon Cycle Lab is relocated to the University of Texas at Austin Marine Science Institute.
